Star citizen map sucks12/26/2023 I tried the fps module first & was surprised to find the clunkiest, worst performing, least enjoyable experience I've had to date. Its frankly embarrassing that this exists in its current state after this many years of so called development. I installed it yesterday to take advantage of the free login promotion & basically I want to just say thank you to the developers for providing this as an avenue to explore the game.īit of background, I have a few hundred hours in Elite, I play NMS fairly regularly & I am old enough to have played and enjoyed Wing Commander & X-wing vs tie fighter. I've woken up with such a sour taste in my mouth because of this game. So I wasn't planning on making a post, but here we are. So all in all - it's rough, but I found it pretty fun and I can look past the repetetive missions because I feel like the gameplay loop of doing a lot of those to get a ship that can do them more efficiently and a ship that feels new to fly is something that I could easily get a good 40-50 hours of fun with. FPS all over the places, judders and stutters all the time. The NPC's are very bugged now so they just stand menacingly looking in one direction very often when you visit space stations. It looks cool the first time you visit - after that it's really just a huge bore. Although the space stations remind me a lot of the empty lifeless feel of Cyberpunks cities. I feel like this is Elite Dangerous with added space stations and more streamlined missions. The different ships feel great - I've only tried two, one starter one and one other that I rented. I absolutely love the sim experience of getting your ship from the hangar and flying out. And that is also the experience with the other mission types that are available.Īlthough I would actually imagine finding myself playing this often - I'm uses to complex gameplay mechanics (I've played EVE on and off for about 10 years +). I did one where I had to find a person who was missing after a ship crash and it was genuinely cool to find your way to the planet, then enter the atmosphere with your ship, find the crash site, land next to it and head outside to in the hostile environment on a strange planet, turn on the lights on your spacesit, find your way in to the crash debris and find the remaining corpses of the people who died in the crash.īut then you do it 10 times and it becomes stale. Okay so after playing for several hours now I can see that this game does have a lot of potential but also has a huge gap in content after you've done the available mission types once or twice. I could imagine myself buying a base pack or something after the free days are over. I’ve played eve online so i’m used to these types of complex gameplay mechanics (even though some of the stuff can also be attributed to jank) but i’m enjoying it. I've only been playing for 1 hour though.Įverything takes ages to do but it’s great. I think first impressions is a lot of jank, but there's some nice things here. I just opened the ramp on my ship while in mid quantim drive whatever and it just stopped and I thought it was very cool that you can just seamlessly take a little space walk lmao This is fun! looks so pretty too and i love the music and the ambient sound of the spaceship working. Okay it works now and i’ve gotten in a ship and just flown out and got into space. The vehicle hangar yellow screen thing was bugged and didn’t show any of my vehicles so I have to do the metro ride again now. Enjoyed the metro ride a lot - I like the vistas. NPC’s are very janky just standing there.
